  • Movies watching and the latest release ( Salaam e Ishq)

Zadexpress 4:38 pm on January 28, 2007 Permalink | Reply

“The Departed” good to know that it’s nominated for the Oscars but sadly it Departed from Kumari Cinema before I stepped into the theatre premises. The same with “Da Vinci Code” which was being shown in Gopi Krishna. Last week, I watched “Happy Feet” in Kumari. Yesterday it was Salaam e ishq. Hmm but if you are a movie lover in Kathmandu, options are limited. Good movies?? Whatever that means to an individual aren’t shown is what most say. Again whateve that means. The understanding of it is personal.

    muble with friends

Mumble with his friends :) I enjoyed watching it.

—>Rehna He Tere Dil Main album is one of the best ever too. ( music by Rehman of course if you didn’t know).
–>Bad Job bad Job!! And U can’t be fan of AR Rehman, if u don’t know the basics!!..:P
The Music of RHTDM is given by Harris Jayaraj If there is no other movie than that hai!!
Well I had been the fan of that guy since I heard his music on Roja, Tiffin nakhai nakhai kana kineko Roja, Mighty 80 bucks at that tyam!! manchhe kyaa pet dukhtyo bhokale, But for love of AR Rehman, Kini chhoden!!..:)
Kya nostalgic banaunchha tyesko music le.. I personally think Dil se was best of his music!!! He had the difference in music, but like all indian musicians, he also copies some of bits from old english songs!!
If You don’t know, all background scores of the Lord of the Rings 3 was given by him!!..:)
Now with all these knowledge, one and only Juggy claims to be obedient fan of AR bhaijaan!!!
      *** Taliyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan***
      :P
P.S.- All things in Dhoom 2 sucked except Aishwarya!! I watched it 3 times straight just to see my babe!!..:D

hello Hayah …dear! ha ha ha Traitor ooooooooooohh. Beat me up if I don’t make to your faithful standards! :) Just wait and watch honey…..

Ah, mistaken again ajakal am always wrong yar. ha ha ha Thanks anyways.but no that can’t make me any less of an Rehman fan. perhaps i am a mistaken fan, but still a huge admirer of his music. knew of the lord of the rings chahin, but yah surely wrong of RHDTM , just surfed and found out, to be exact this time lol agree on that Dil Se one, there is one Lakeer bhanne film ko “Nachle” bhanne song, which is really kool too, film flop bhayeni. Lagaan ko pani music pani mindblowing lagcha, Yuva…yesterday we were paying a tribute to Rehman (me and sis) singing all his numbers as no lights.. he he he . So no dear you can’t Only Be His Obedient Fan, to err is ta human ni, hoina ta? :)

I watched Salaam-e-Ishq last night. Surprisingly good movie considering the name. Initially I had no inling to go and watch the movie and literally had to be dragged in. And my first comment on the very first scene – “the couple wake up in the morning and not a single hair is out of place, ever seen that happen?” – which elicited a sharp jab from the elbow from my par amour.

But the movie is good, even though long and rambling sometimes. One thing I noticed, after watching “Rang de Basanti”, “Kisna” and “Salaam-e-Ishq” (my! typing Ishq does take and effort!!) is that white (kuireni) girls have started to get roles with some “meat” (er…. maybe cabbage for you vegeterians?) in them as opposed to always being potrayed as a vamp. And Govinda does shine in the movie. I was clapping my hand (alas! I don’t know how to do the “sitti” thing!).

On a more (pseudo)-intellectual tone – what the story teller is trying to show is various stages of a relationship – there’s Govinda who’s just starting to fall in love, Salman Khan whos courting his love, Akshaya Khanna who’s in the verge of getting married and has second thoughts, the Johnny guy who’s just married and has a wonderful life that gets caught in a crisis and finally Anil Kapoor who gets a mid life crisis after 15 years of marriage. All these events could possible happen to a single couple in a single lifetime, but the director chose to show it in a single time frame – similar to the story plot style used in the movie “Crash” or “Babel” – A new story telling technique in Hindi movies, at least not the linear story telling line as run of the mill Hndi cinema….. my two cents worth…..

    Hey j-j-jaded
    In all it’s misery
It will always be what I love and hated
And maybe take a ride to the other side
    We’re thinkin’ of
We’ll slip into the velvet glove
    And be jaded…….

    I’m nervous, I’d told her.
Don’t worry. She was calming me down.
I was being whisked in a cab to meet her guy.
People make me nervous. I repeated.
    She smiled back.
    Thamel.
I walked out just as the food arrived. He wasn’t talking. I felt like a perfect fool.

Then a guy wrote to me of his interests, Osho, Or2k, Thamel.
I replied and he never wrote back again.

It rained. He said I rocked. I wrote and he retaliated as though it was War I had declared.
    Great! I concluded.

So me, Thamel and Thamel lovers…Never Click. My Conclusion.

mero soul phiri chorechha achyaaaaa!! Aabo bank ko locker ma lagarea haldinchhu mero soul lai!! heraula kasari chordo raichha!!..:D
      Back to discussion now!!
If Thamel gives you phobia then there are whole lots of places in Kathmandu where I have had thousand crushes and million heartbreaks!! I should be afraid of all those places now!!..:P
But one place compare to YOUR THAMEL for me would be Kupondole to Pulchowk area!! Spend 6 years at that area during bachelors and too many nostalgic memories and a big heartbreak for straight three times with only one I had loved till now!! Three times would you believe, I proposed and Three times was rejected kind heartedly!!..hehe..:D
And still we remained best of friends!! But now being half world apart, I haven’t seen her in ages, Two years to be exact and maybe I am forgotten when she is getting ready to be married!!… But I still remember those precious moments and whenever I go there, nostalgia grasps in!!
But talking about Thamel, I love that place!! it brings the different feeling, and strolling there is a different experience every time I am there!!
Hope everything is good on your side!! and enjoy your break!!(I think u have finished ur exams innit? I have 2 remaining till Feb 2)
Keep blogging, gorgeous with big teddy!!..:P

whtever the case seems like i am creating a lot of confusion with my ambiguos writings of my nabhako lovelife here..i can neither write everything nor explain..bloging sometimes is such a problematic thing..you just have to restrain yourself so much so that it gets on your Nerves.
but the good thing is yah I read ur comment b4 i left home tis morn and it gave my day a Brilliant Start! :) thanks.
ani abt the Pulchowk -kupondole route, i walk the route..pulchowk to maitighar or baneshwor once or so a month library jada.N man again what can i say life is indeed a solitary romantic walk ( My very original dialogue there! ) he he he.. n for Thamel, have felt good abt the place when i m there on my own chahin, ke garnu Nun hunu parne kahan sansarik jal ma fasiyo  ..though m not much of a Thamel person as it..don’t go there a lot, too far from where i live n don’ t know the place too..last time it reminded me of Lakeside. Romantic lageko thiyo..yah ppl sud go there and have fun, njoy the sights and sounds..

ani exams ta over..n that’s the major problem. nothing to do! ha ha ha you have great time wit your ur books.. and then i suggest celebrate Feb ( the month of love) as they say Full Fledged Masti ka Sath! :)

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we’d see the day when nobody died

    And I’m singing

    Amen I, Amen I, I’m alive
    Amen I,Amen I, Amen I, I’m alive

And in the air the fireflies
    Our only light in paradise
We’ll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along

    If everyone cared by Nickelback

Holidays and Xtreme Laziness go hand in hand. But we sure deserve that after all those early morning rushes to college for six months, don’t we? Come rain or shine be inside the class by 6:45. Especially hard during the winters when it takes exactly an hour for me to get there. Holidays: I should be sleeping till 8 but I can’t. The body clock, I’m always up by 3:30. Ah..but the pleasure’s different. 3:30 yes I’m up by then, but I do nothing other than stare at the ceiling till 7!! Talk of waste of time! Wake up and tune to Hits fm “Namaste Kathmandu” the breakfast show you can almost eat as they call it. It’s a ritual. Then the cup, mug, jug, (thank god yet to get promoted to a bucket) of milk Dad makes sure I drink. What a baby existence! Ha ha more of a pampered existence I would say, yeta ko sinka uta sardina and still complaining!! When will I improve??!! I wonder.

Exams Over!! Glad?? ali ali. Looking for something else to preoccupy myself with now..ani tyo youth ko article ma comment garaun bhanya mood nai chaina.. rather wanted to write a blog called ” Majak CHa Jindagi”. M feeling as though I Just Graduated From the School of Majak as a Valedictorian!! :) But I think everyone in Nepal feels as though they are living in the land Of Majak nai Majak!! The Transport walas have called on a strike today AGAIN!! OF course I am NOT AT ALL SURPRISED!! Sarkar uni haruko mag prati Udasin bho arey ah…and what is this debate on Terai A New Country in The World Map! The debate on the acts of PN Shah re.. thankfully the debate on the national anthem has subsided for sometime atleast. Personally I see no need of an Anthem in the first place..why not a tune? why the debate on “Jangi Nishan” of the song “Rato ra Chandra Surya”??? Ma baulako ho ki, desh ma eutai matra sadhe manche baki bhako I have no idea!! , I am losing My Mind!!

Nyways here is a Nice Ghoch Pech :) write up by Aruna Upreti. I love the way she writes, always look forward to it..This is Simply Wonderful! Take a read ( was published in the Kantipur yesterday)

Article ta padeko ho but this time i got to know more about it in ur blog by aruna upreti. hami yuba haru le nai ho aba real change lyaune ta, ani national anthem nai narakhne bhanne kura chai is nowhere conviencing to me. anthem ta rakhnu parcha but always to fight for it, to make it a issue to trouble general public is surely not good. we need to definately come out of that old notion of jangi nisan and bahadur nepali kind of thing but to totally ignore the importance of national anthem would not be again good, its just my view.

Guess we differ on this like a lot of other things of course :) never had any affinity towards national anthem I guess..all the talk of rastra bhakti, hunchan ni desh ko lagi marchu kinda kura ta schoole guff jasto lagcha malai ta, would feel that in perhaps grade 6-7-8….akhir bhawana matra bagera ke nai huna sakcha ra hoina ta?

      but feels great to see

“Pahadi, madhesi bhai hai sab kahun Milke nepal banai” in the TKP post today!

      ( n thks mp Ji )

…n i found something which of my own experience on the “Rastriya Culture” written about an year ago ( found it so childish i mean the post..and of course winding, initial blogging josh spasta jhalkincha.zpt..but yah its the last part that talks of the Culture of Nepalese men).make an attempt to read it

The hall is cold, the chairs colder still. She sits on one of them. Takes out the highlighter and starts straining her eyes to make something out of the article. CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION. Five o’clock, five thirty, Six…and the clock finally strikes the six thirty mark. Everyone’s left. She is the only one in the cold empty hall. Two hours spent in waiting for her turn. She can’t wait anymore. “Will be back on Tuesday” she says and leaves.
“Damn! Two hours for nothing.” she mutters stepping outside the hospital premises.

such a wonderful way to put ‘conflict managment’ into perspective through a narrative. if my teachers had explained the things that i learnt in the school in that manner, i would have been a lot wiser today, alas!

conflicts laced with emotions are hard to resolve, since emotions/sentiments transcend the boundary of rationality, but on the other hand, the whole fun is there not thinking rationally…

      Zade,
reading your write ups sometime, i feel you have out grown your age. so much profoundity in thoughts.

kalilo umermai buddhatwa praata gare jasto cha.

such a psyched up piece, feel like runing in ‘chaapals’, no need to waste time in tying shoe laces.

but i do have some issues:

and that’s what exactly the youths are doing today, running without preparation with no direction.

sad to say, today, youths are not equipped properly with education and enough training to go into public policy. Much of the credit goes to the bull sh** education system we have in Nepal.

yes, i agree we, the youth have the zeal to change the society and they are doing something about it in all the seemingly possible ways that their wisdom can think of, to make a dent at the system. but what we need is not a dent, but a freaking huge hole, for that you need a right tool, and that is: training and education.

well, gagan and gang might make an excellent leaders, but that’s where it ends. to complement that we need a parallel ‘yuva pusta ko’ think tank, to advise them to implement best policies.

for instance, i have a friend who goes to John Hopkins University (which is few miles down the road from where I stay) grad school for Public Policy. And the poor guy sleeps hardly four hours a day, attending/giving/preparing seminars, workshops, school assignments, virtually he lives in his lab. then you might argue, he might be diligent student, but he tells me that’s the story with rest of the students in his class.

where is that training and education in our education system? so in my humble opinion zeal/enthusiasm wont get you anywhere without preparation.

      clarification:
i am not trying to say, we nepali students lack diligence and intelligence, but we sure do lack institutions to equip us with the right tools for GOOD POLICY MAKING.

      thank you.

To add to Gol’s comments. What does it mean to say “participation”. We have enough participation of youths in politics, as it is. I feel one thing that Nepali youths should understand clearly is that politics is not the solution to everything. Yes, it is a starting point, but all ills that we face in our society today is not going to be solved by politics. The problem is multi-faceted and so the solution must also be multi-faceted.

      Hmmm…Interesting topic!!
Nepal’s education system lacks the ability to give a practical knowledge to students so they lack ability to implement their knowledge directly into the field. And the people educated from outer countries face lack of resources while implementing their education back home. The main confusion in policy making also lies in this fact. The curriculum itself in Nepal can compete with any international university given, but the way those curriculum are implemented should be changed!
Now talking about the politics in Nepal, the gone old generation has been busy fighting the dog fight in between themselves giving zero chance for new generation. And the new generation which is thriving to come into the main scene lack the support they need to conquer over old chaps.
The new generation of people are trying their best to run away from the country and one who have already been away don’t want to come back to give a parallel think tank!! This brain drain itself is also giving a backlash to the development of Nepal. The Nepal won’t be a better place unless and if the new generation come forward with a enough zeal and readyness to face any hardship to contribute for development. And Politics, it affects every aspect of of life; even the price of alu and golveda in local bazaar, so it can’t be separated from the youth’s participation if the country wishes to move forward!!
      Will comment more later!!
      Gotta run.. Exam blues!!..:(
      Have a good day everyone!!

Little deviating from the topic, what I feel is that the students of private college who are paying much higher cost than general TU students hardly mind any other business except mugging up their course materials. They express the views, may be in paper or in blog but there is hardly any tangible presence of those people as a collective group in protests. May be few students might have been “infiltrated” but without making presence in larger scenario. Recently, I am hearing some shocking news about mismangement by KU VC and death of one staff after being attacked by some anti-social elements in in/direct direction by some people related to KU VC. TU students are everywhere when the issues of teacher or students come but in this matter private college students are failing to make any presence. I hardly see any such issues being taken by them at least even in paper if not in street as a collective action. As a street protest, I am not referring to burning of tyres and vandalism rather exercise of making unions and acting in concert, which is one of the fundamental rights of people.
Being politically aware and making personal opinion in political questions is quite different from expressing political rights. Private College Students are failing in latter. Otherwise, talking simply about politics and just somebody expresses his/her opinions, does not/should not give them berth in political parties/Union.

SHINE ON GUYS!! Here’s a song for all …..

    Shine
    When I’ve gone too far
    When I’ve had enough
    When I’m losin’ ground
    Feelin’ out of touch
    I don’t run and hide
    I just look inside
For a simple piece of mind
    Like a neighborhood
    On a city street
    I know the path
    It knows my feet
    And when I feel afraid
    Feel like checkin’ out
You stand up and take a bow

You shine when others need you
You speak and I believe you
I know the light, it guides you
I’ll join the line that walks behind you

    [Chorus]
    You shine, you shine
Like a window to your heart I see
    All the possibilities
    You shine, you shine
    And everyday’s another opportunity
    To shine

The way you see the world
The way it sees you back
    You’re the photographer
    You take the photograph
If you don’t like the way
The way it looks at you
You’ve got all the power to choose
Make it light, make it dark, make it go away
I love the way you write the script to your own life
You’re the star, you’re on tonight

    And when I feel unnoticed
Just two steps back from hopeless
You turn my world around with a single smile
That’s who you are, that’s who you are

    [Chorus]

I know the light, the light that guides
I’ll join the line that walks behind you
    You shine, you shine
In my life I know you shine
    You shine
Like a window to your heart I see
    All the possibilities
    You shine
    And everyday’s another opportunity
    To shine
