    Stupid

There’s no cure for stupidity. There’s no cure for my need to write of emotions triggered by the stupid either. I don’t sympathize with this kind of stupidity. NO. I don’t even think its worthy of any Pity. People are what they are. They are young and they are stupid. Perhaps, they didn’t have a teacher like mine who used to tell us, ‘be careful of what you do when you are young, for the way you are perceived will mostly be the impression you create for yourself as a young person.’ The ‘others’ opinion doesn’t really matter but being sensible and responsible when you are young is still a virtue and not a vice. But I can’t ‘view’ the world with my Kant like ‘what if everyone did so’ logic here, because others mayn’t see things that way. And ‘doing maximum good to maximum people’ doesn’t seem to have occurred in their brains before revealing their stupidity either. The emotional gibberish only surprises me. Not to forget that I am now fully convinced that ‘The two most common elements in the universe are Hydrogen and stupidity.’ ( Harlan Ellison)

Here’s some advice from the ‘great people’ to thy stupidity:
‘Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. – Abraham Lincoln

But according to Einstein: “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.” So, in this case, my thoughts are best spoken out by an anonymous person who says ‘ Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.’

    Amen.

    Intellectual Poverty

There is a distinct pattern to the workshops, public discussion and lecture series that take place in Kathmandu. Firstly there is the speaker or pundit or whatever name they are called by. They are supposed to have mastered the issue in question. In most situations the experts live up to their name. And in a rare case scenario the ‘expert’ clearly demonstrates a lack of understanding to the extent that they ‘boldly’ or ’shamelessly’ allow someone else in the audience to take control of the discussion. Then there is an audience which is diverse and has come to attend the discussions for various reasons. Some come there with the sole purpose of listening to the speakers with no strings attached. They are there to learn whatever they can. Another kind are cynics. It doesn’t matter if their knowledge of the issue is nil: they are there to criticize and will not leave unless they have done so. The third type of attendees are the flamboyant ones. They are there to show off what they know. If the speaker utters a single word which they know of, their response will not stop until they’ve finished narrating the entire history of that term. The weapons they use will be jargons and sentences quoted verbatim from a book or else theories that the person in question knows by heart.

I wish your wishes come true D… Now every time I’m on the Nepal yatayat I’ll be wondering if the next girl is you… It seems a lot of us go through the same feeling of scrolling down our contact lists on our cell phones and finding no one to call just to say to talk a bag full of nothings… at least I feel I’m not the only person who feels that way
And I do love Katie Melua too..

I wish I was driving the Nepal Yatayat Bus @ 100 miles per hour! If that helps… maybe your 1.5 hr commute will go down to 15 minutes!

That’s soooo nice of you to say that Hysh. Many a times in life ( my philosophical start :P ) its just the ‘thought that counts’…Hope Kant wud say sth like this too! ;) seriously, it was really sweet.

Many of these wishes will never come true ( like the SOD mail or the BF with a bike or ahhhh so many of em yaar :( ) Still what’s the harm in wishing…..And of one these Friday evenings I wish I could disappear from this place and appear in Colombo too :D

N thanks for getting the friend part Phenomenally you :) . I think Katie is awesome..though I just realized that even copying and pasting the ‘lyrics’ of songs by stating the original composer+artist IS ‘copyright infringement’ TOO. OMG!

@ Guffadi ( though it does sound like a ‘guffadi’ko guff /almost impossible in KTM roads that was really nice of you 2 say that! )

@ surath Didn’t know you blogged too! or you visited this site….I remember you from the 07 Youth Assembly ( u’re in the pic)…but we’ve never interacted have we?

nyways have a great weekend everyone.

The only thing I wish right now, is to get into an American college.
Btw, the way ur waiting August 2009, it seems like you’ve gotten admission somewhere, ho?
      CONGRATS!

oh! not at all Ad.I’ve not applied to any foreign university as of this date…I’ve only ’surfed’ and ‘learnt’ about all the opportunities available for my field of study ( limited to Europe only where there are great places to study but no funds) …in fact I am waiting for Aug 09 to join a Masters course in Nepal :) …..(* But Conditions apply which is if I flunk an entrance test)

I don’t know of your case/course but most good places which relate to my study demand 2 years of work exp after graduation or a Masters Degree ( ridiculous!) …and in places they don’t I am not tenacious enuf ( as of now ) to go through all the paperwork involved beginning with Rec letters! even the thought of it makes me tired! ( i must be the only one who thinks such ‘intake procedures’ are not ‘inclusive’ ( though the course is on development) or even entirely pointless ! …

My best wishes to You and your dream. Hope 2009 is Your Intake year ! :)

Nice naration! This “Where are you?” is our national disease.

I lived in Pokhara for six years, used to work there. My average feeling of Pokhara is ‘beautiful place but rude people’. I have many intimate Pokhreli friends and I know they will object this.

Ah, true… D, true… hard to be happy alone. But we can always try. Happened to me in Pokhara too. I tried and indulge myself while my colleagues decided to “rest” after a trip from Myagdi. I guess I ate too much to give me a bad stomach and a realization that I was alone. Anyway, the pictures were great. Especially your not-at-all-jhare “jhare esstyle”.

    • Zadexpress 9:51 am on March 18, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Thank you for liking the pictures everyone. ( my jhare estyle included :) ) And sorry for this very very LATE response. My laziness and fluctuating moods are to be blamed for it ….

N Basantaji , if the work related entry I’d posted earlier is something that interests you might have have known of an NGO in Pokhara working in similar issues too…They are more community and ‘hardcore’ agriculture based NGO with less policy focus. But in a village from where both Rupa and Begnas lakes can be seen ( forgot the name) they have done some commendable job regarding ABS ( Access and Benefit Sharing) as in they have this Community Biodiveristy Registers with all the names of the local flora and fauna in it, which is basically the first step towards implementing ABS ( though the ABS bill is yet to be passed in the Nepali context). It is used as a resource site for similar projects elsewhere. Their work is really impressive.

    Raw thoughts

At a time like this the music should be turned low to calm the senses, to gain focus and not lose hope. But the music is loud…loud enough to interrupt my flow of thoughts and what perfect timing that this song in particular should start just the same time I begin writing this …
